Why would I need a Headshot or Close-up photo?
“Headshots” are modern portraits, focusing on a person’s face. Mostly cropped somewhere in the middle of the torso or focused on the head and face, you will mostly use it for professional profile images on social media, corporate websites, or as promotional pictures. These images help to form relationships. e.g. if a recruiter is looking for your skill set on a Network, a good photo helps to connect, to show your confidence, and to stand out. For more personalized communication, you can add a head photo to your email signature, use it as a personal touch in your publicity materials, or simply personalize Business cards.

What to wear for Professional Headshots?
For Business Headshots, use a professional, business-like outfit.
Think here about Clothes and Colors, Hair and Makeup, Accessories, and your Personality.
The person on the photo should show YOU, not a copy or a masked person.
Here are some tips you should consider:
Consider the following points for your "Look" on the photos:
- Hairstyle
should be simple, professional, and not block your face. A clean-cut hairstyle can show your personality without distracting the viewer from your face. Do hair cuts a few days before and ensure that you like the style before getting head-shots. When you style the hair, look that it doesn’t distract or block your face.
- Colors
Wear solid colors that complement each other and don’t clash. Avoid patterned or stripes to not distract. Colors should work together as well. Most used colors are dark blue, grey or black in combination with simple lighter colors.
- Makeup
Wear natural makeup that matches your natural skin tone and that will look similar to what you will look like on a day-to-day basis. You want your photo to reflect your personality and appearance when you go to work.
- Clothes
Once you’ve chosen colors, hairstyle and makeup, pick out clothing that presents yourself as professional but not too casual. Ensure it is free from hair, pet fur, and dust by using a lint roller. Even though the head shot will just show the upper half of your body, dress in a complete outfit which makes you feel comfortable and not costumed.
- Consider layer with blazers, jackets, hats, ties, cardigans, sweaters, but not to much. Bring layers and switch between them for various photographs. Then you can decide which combinations look best.
- Choose an outfit that creates a natural contrast to the background, which should depend on your color of outfit. For e.g. a light blouse, choose a dark jacket which works well with your skin tone and hair color.
- Accessories
To show your personality and professionalism, be tasteful and use simple jewelry that you might wear to work on any given day, a watch, or other accessory. Do not over-accessorize and avoid brightly colored, large, or distracting pieces.

You use stock photos, e.g. because you do not like yourself on photos? But Real images connect better than stock photos. And yes, not everyone is a model but someone “outside of your comfort zone” sees you often in a different way. Clients will better know, like, and trust you, if they see the “real person” behind a brand or company. Images of yourself increase Social Media interaction, so having a library of images you can post frequently saves time.

All our Services include 15 Minute planning Sessions via Email and/or Online-Meeting, 1 Photographer, Travel costs within Austin. The client is responsible for obtaining permits and paying for photo shoots in public places! On request, we can do this for a small additional fee.
We do not conduct photo sessions without getting to know each other beforehand!
